Virginia Commonwealth University will celebrate VCU Alumni Month in April with a variety of intellectual, cultural, recreational and leadership events to celebrate the university and showcase VCU pride.

“Alumni Month provides opportunities for our 183,000 alumni to reconnect and engage with one another as well as students, faculty and staff at VCU,” said Jim Williams, VCU Alumni president.

Highlights of this year’s Alumni Month include VCU Jazz performances, the Marquita Aguilar Walk-a-thon to support student scholarships, service projects sponsored by VCU Alumni chapters, Lavender Graduation, the dedication of the RPI History Wall at the University Student Commons, VCU Alumni Night at The Diamond and the VCU Alumni and Community Bike Ride.

VCU Alumni members will receive free access to the Cary Street Gym and the MCV Campus Recreation and Aquatics Center in April, and all alumni can try the recreational facilities during Reunion Weekend, April 7-9. A number of classes will return to the university for Reunion Weekend to reminisce and reconnect with friends at the RPI Reunion, the MCV Campus Reunion and the African-American Alumni Council Reunion.

Alumni who can’t make it back to campus can still embrace the spirit of the monthlong celebration by wearing black and gold on Fridays for Rams @ Work (and sharing on social media) or connecting and organizing events with one of VCU Alumni’s chapters.

“We look forward to recognizing and celebrating our alumni, both near and far,” Williams said. “Alumni Month celebrates our diverse alumni community and keeps our graduates connected with their alma mater.”
