Four named to VCU Board of Visitors

Gov. Terry McAullife has appointed two new members to the Virginia Commonwealth University Board of Visitors and reappointed two others to four-year terms.

Ed McCoy will join VCU’s governing body on July 1 and Todd P. Haymore will join in January 2018. Reappointed to a second four-year term on the board are Rev. Tyrone Nelson and George Richard “Rick” Wagoner Jr. In addition, board member Steve L. Worley’s term has been extended through the end of 2017 until Haymore’s appointment takes effect.

McCoy, of Richmond, is president and CEO of Eaheart Industrial Service Inc., a Richmond-based material handling equipment company. He is also the primary owner of New Virginia Tractor and has been recognized for his entrepreneurship, receiving Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year award in 1996. 

McCoy is active in a number of business and civic organizations and currently serves on the Richmond Management Round Table and the board of directors of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He received a degree in finance from VCU in 1986. 

Haymore, of Richmond, is Virginia secretary of commerce and trade. He previously served as secretary of agriculture and forestry under both McAuliffe and former Gov. Bob McDonnell and was commissioner of the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services when Tim Kaine was governor. 

Haymore also served as executive at both Universal Leaf Tobacco Corporation and DIMON Inc., two of the world’s largest leaf tobacco dealers. He received his Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Richmond and his Executive M.B.A. from VCU in 2004.

Nelson is pastor of Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Church in Richmond and Wagoner is former chairman and CEO of General Motors. Worley serves as senior advisor to LCMC Health in New Orleans.
