Never Forget Memorial Run is May 26

The Virginia Commonwealth University Police Department, in partnership with VFW Post 6364, will host the second annual Never Forget Memorial Run on Monday, May 26. The Memorial Day event is meant to commemorate fallen service members from each branch of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Runners will start at the Stuart C. Siegel Center (1200 West Broad St.) and end at the Virginia War Memorial (621 S. Belvidere St.). Participants will be asked to wear white T-shirts and to remain silent on the 1.4-mile route.

Registration for runners begins at 10 a.m. at the Siegel Center. Registration is followed by opening remarks and guest speakers at 10:45 a.m. in the UU parking lot, adjacent to the Siegel Center. The run starts at noon. (This event will be held rain or shine; rain location for speakers will be inside the Siegel Center.)

No media credentialing is required for this event. Media vehicles can park in the Bowe Street Parking Deck.

VCU Police Officer Stephen Adt will be available for interviews at the Siegel Center from 10 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. Adt is the event organizer and has been a soldier for 13 years.
