“Paint the Town Green” cleans neighborhoods and builds relationships
Share this story
VCU students, staff, faculty and alumni teamed up with people who live in neighboring communities last Saturday to “Paint the Town Green,” an event aimed at bringing the groups together to clear litter from neighborhoods and to strengthen town-gown relationships.
The event kicked off with a breakfast in Monroe Park. Participants separated into teams of 25 to 30. After picking up gloves and garbage bags, the teams traveled to Carver, the Fan, Oregon Hill or Randolph.
After the work was done, each neighborhood held an informal gathering to give the VCU volunteers and neighbors an opportunity to get to know each other better.
Paint the Town Green event is sponsored by the Monroe Park Campus Student Government Association, the VCU Neighborhood Team, the VCU Honors College, the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs, VCU AmeriCorps and the Rams Alumni Volunteer Network.
