Person of interest sought in sexual battery at VCU’s Student Commons

The Virginia Commonwealth University Police Department is releasing photos of a person of interest following a sexual battery on Sept. 10.

VCU Police were notified of the sexual battery Sept. 10 at 11:30 a.m. The incident took place at approximately 11 a.m. the same day, at the University Student Commons, located at 907 Floyd Ave.

A woman reported holding a door open for a man at an entrance near the Main Street side of the building. As the survivor walked past the man, he forcefully grabbed her buttocks.

The suspect is described as a black male with a medium build and approximately 30 years old. He is approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, is bald or has very short hair and a goatee. He was last seen wearing a charcoal gray T-shirt, dark denim shorts and black Nike tennis shoes with a red sole. The suspect left the scene on a black and silver moped with a possible Virginia tag of 25755M.

VCU Police detectives are asking for the public’s help to identify a person of interest in the investigation. Police are releasing the attached photos of a man matching the survivor’s description from VCU’s security camera system.
