Police chief finalists announced

Virginia Commonwealth University has announced its three finalists for the position of VCU Police Chief.

The finalists were selected by the Search Committee for the Chief of Police. Each candidate will visit campus and participate in an open forum to meet with faculty, staff and students.

Each candidate's resume is available at http://blogs.vcu.edu/policechiefsearch/. The site also allows VCU faculty, staff and students to offer comments about the candidates for review in the selection process.

The three finalists and the days and times of their open forums are included below:

  • Derek Poarch, Bureau Chief, Public Safety/Homeland Security, Federal Communications Commission, (Dec. 8 at 3:30 p.m.)
  • John Venuti, Major, City of Richmond Police Department, (Dec. 9 at 2:30 p.m.)
  • Thomas Longo, Chief of Police, University of South Florida, (Dec. 10 at 9 a.m.)


All forums take place at the University Student Commons Virginia Rooms A and B.
