How Virginians view terrorism, emergency preparedness and police legitimacy are among the topics of a new poll that will be released Thursday, Feb. 4, at an 11 a.m. press conference in the General Assembly Building’s House Briefing Room.

Tonya Chapman and Adam Thiele of the Virginia Secretary of Public Safety and Homeland Security office will join faculty experts from the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University to discuss the second part of the 2016 Commonwealth Poll: Public Safety.

The Wilder School, in conjunction with the secretary’s office, conducted the statewide poll in a first-ever partnership. The poll covers many issues that are pending before the General Assembly.

The first part of the poll, released last week and available at www.wilder.vcu.edu/news/publicsafety.html, focused on parole abolition, juvenile justice and public safety reforms.
