VCU School of Dentistry to host Give Kids a Smile Day

On Give Kids a Smile Daythe Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry’s Pediatric Dentistry Clinic will provide free services for children in need of dental care who do not have dental insurance.

The clinic will be open Friday, Feb. 3, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Wood Memorial Building, 521 N. 11th St.

The Department of Pediatric Dentistry will provide exams, cleanings, X-rays, fillings, extractions and minor restorations for children from birth to age 18. The Pediatric Dental Clinic has 14 chairs with two suites for general anesthesia and two rooms for oral sedation, and specializes in dental care for medically compromised and special needs children as well as otherwise healthy children.

Give Kids a Smile Day is organized annually by the American Dental Association during National Children’s Dental Health Month. The program, which was designed to provide education, preventative and restorative oral health care for children, has served approximately 5.5 million children since its launch in 2003.
