Law enforcement, human resource staff, prosecutors, faculty and students marked National Crime Victims' Rights Week with a ceremony on Virginia Commonwealth University's Shafer Court. VCU's Ceremony for Victims was designed to remind crime victims of their legal rights to police protection, notification when court proceedings change, and reimbursement of certain medical bills related to violence. The event was cosponsored by the VCU Police Department's Victims' Witness Program - coordinated by Capt. Tina S. Buck - and VCU's Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Services Program, coordinated by Gay Cutchin.
