Cassie Williams Jones joined the Office of Communications and Public Relations as a junior public relations specialist in June 2011. Based on the Monroe Park Campus, Jones is the media database manager and assists in multiple beat areas for VCU and the VCU Health System. She also works on several division and universitywide initiatives, including metrics and policies task forces and emergency communications coordination.
Jones most recently worked as a public relations account coordinator for Free Agents Marketing, conducting agency promotions and providing health care clients with public relations support. Previously, she interned with the VCU Office of Communications and Public Relations and CRT/tanaka. A two-time VCU alumna, she completed her bachelor’s degree with a double-major in mass communications and Spanish in 2008, and her master’s degree in strategic public relations in 2009.
As a student, Jones studied abroad in Spain and China, and was the recipient of numerous awards and scholarships, including the Virginia Communications Hall of Fame Scholarship and the Public Relations Society of America Richmond Public Relations Foundation Scholarship. She also served as a research assistant to a mass communications faculty member and wrote for a local Spanish-language publication.
She is a member of the VCU Staff Senate and the Public Relations Society of America.
