Division of Administration honors staff

The Division of Administration celebrated a year of accomplishments across both campuses during a recognition and awards event Wednesday.

A carnival with games, food and selfies with Rodney the Ram kicked off the program, which was held at the James Branch Cabell Library.

“There’s a lot to be thankful for that we did this year, so I want to give everyone a round of applause,” said Meredith Weiss, vice president for administration. “It’s been an amazing year. I can’t thank you enough.”

The division includes hundreds of employees who work for VCU Police, Technology Services, Parking and Transportation, Safety and Risk Management, Facilities Management and Human Resources. Weiss said they are focused on creating a “healthy, high-performance culture.”

“We’re really transforming the lives of students and this community, and what you do every day has a tremendous impact on that,” Weiss said.

Staff were honored for achievements both serious — efforts to help sexual assault survivors and the installation of a new hands-free tag system in VCU’s parking decks — and light-hearted.

More than 60 staff were nominated, with multiple winners in most categories. They received small gifts, such as pom-poms for the “cheerleader” award winners and child-size bat and ball sets for the “pinch hitter” award winners. Door prizes, from the various departments, were also awarded.
