VCU wins 32 prizes at annual Virginia Public Relations Awards ceremony

Virginia Commonwealth University was honored for its outstanding communications work with 32 prizes, including the prestigious “Best in Show,” at the 70th Virginia Public Relations Awards, an event of the Public Relations Society of America’s Richmond chapter recognizing creative and effective communications strategies and tactics.

VCU honorees at the May 10 ceremony, which was held at the Jefferson Hotel, included the VCU Division of University Relations, VCU Health, Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU, Massey Cancer Center, the Office of Development and Alumni Relations, School of the Arts, Business Services, VCU Libraries and the School of Business. Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU and Padilla took home the “Best in Show” award for the website, “Navigating CHoR’s New Children’s Pavilion Interactive Tour.”

The chapter presents two types of awards: Commonwealth Awards, which recognize complete public relations campaigns in 16 categories, and Capital Awards, which recognize public relations tactics, individual items or components of campaigns in 30 categories. VCU won 15 Commonwealth Awards and 17 Capital Awards. Within each type, winners are recognized with either an Award of Excellence or an Award of Merit.
