The Short Story: The Rams collected three wins and 12 podium finishes to capture their fifth indoor and eighth overall Atlantic 10 title with 126 points.
SPRINTS/HURDLES
- Junior Lauryn Freeman ran away with the 60-meter hurdles title, clocking 8.44, good for a new school record and A-10 meet record. Junior SyVanna Metcalfe placed fifth with a time of 8.83 as the Rams picked up 14 points in the event
- Sophomore Lauryn Taylor tied her personal best (7.53), set on day one of competition, in the 60-meter dash to grab second place. Freeman returned to the track to secure fourth place in the event, clocking 7.63. Freeman and Taylor combined for 13 points in the event
- Sophomore Simone Pierre collected bronze in the 400 with a time of 56.50, adding six points for the Rams. Sophomore Karah Moore set a personal best of 57.34 in the event to take seventh, securing two points
- Taylor and Pierre returned to the track to collect their second silver and bronze medals of the day in the 200. The pair combined for 14 points, with Taylor running 24.62 and Pierre running 24.72
- Junior Yasmine Silmon placed seventh in the 500, scoring two points for the Rams
- VCU's 4x400 team of Moore, Silmon, Metcalfe, and sophomore Nia McMillan placed eighth
JUMPS
- Junior Dasia Mayo and sophomore Nayome Shipp went 1-2 in the high jump, securing 18 points in the event. Mayo cleared a personal best 1.70m for the win
- Senior Amari Jackson jumped a personal best 12.17m in the triple jump to finish third. Junior Raquel Hawkins (11.88m) placed fifth, and freshman Sydney Carr (11.53m) placed seventh, as the Rams collected 12 points in the event
THROWS
- The Rams' throwers combined for 23 points in the weight throw, with sophomore Eryn Byrd leading a trio of Rams to top-five finishes. Byrd won the event with a 14.80m toss, senior Makayla McGowan (14.70m) collected runner-up honors, and senior Shannon Moise (14.09m) placed fourth
NOTABLE
- Byrd was named Most Outstanding Field Performer after her gold and bronze medal performances over the weekend
- Head Coach Jon Riley was named Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year, his eighth time earning the honor
