‘Bowtie Economist,’ MIT researcher headline VCU School of Business’ Real Estate Trends Conference

An economist and a researcher will address the latest trends affecting real estate and business during the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Business’ 28th annual Real Estate Trends Conference next month.

The conference, organized by the Kornblau Real Estate Program in the VCU School of Business, will be held Thursday, Oct. 11, at the Greater Richmond Convention Center. Doors open, with sign-in, networking and a continental breakfast, at 7:30 a.m. The program starts at 9 a.m.

Elliot Eisenberg, Ph.D., “the Bowtie Economist,” will lead the first session. Eisenberg is a nationally acclaimed economist and public speaker specializing in making economics fun, relevant and educational. He is the chief economist for GraphsandLaughs, an economic consultancy that serves a variety of clients across the United States.

Researcher Steve Weikal will lead the second session. Head of industry relations at the MIT Center for Real Estate, Weikal focuses on innovative new technology and business models that disrupt the traditional ways of developing, transacting and managing real estate. A licensed attorney and real estate broker, he is also a LEED accredited professional, a qualification of green building expertise.

The conference annually attracts more than 1,300 people from all sectors of real estate including both academic and professional ranks.
