Starting Saturday, April 6, a new traffic pattern will be in effect on Virginia Commonwealth University’s MCV Campus due to lane closures for multiple construction projects. Patient and visitor parking will not be affected, however, drivers are encouraged to allow extra time for travel as heavy traffic is possible. This new traffic pattern will be in effect for several months.

  • One eastbound lane of East Marshall Street will be closed to midblock, between North 10th and North 11th streets.
  • Two northbound lanes of North 10th Street, between East Broad and East Marshall streets, will be closed. One northbound and southbound lane will be maintained. Flaggers will be stationed at the entrance and exit to the Children’s Pavilion at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU off North 10th Street.
  • The sidewalk of North 11th Street (Children’s Pavilion side of street) will be closed to midblock.
  • The northeast corner of East Marshall and North 11th streets is closed. A pedestrian pathway has been installed to allow safe travel through this area. The entrance and exit to the Nelson Clinic garage, located at 401 N. 11th St., will remain open at all times. This closure has been in effect and will continue for approximately four months.
  • East Clay Street, between 10th and 11th streets, will be closed nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. This closure has been in effect and will continue for approximately one month.
  • On Wednesday, April 10, and Monday, April 15, from 1-7 a.m., the westbound right turn only lane on East Marshall Street, between 10th and 11th streets, will be closed. The northbound lane on 10th Street, between East Marshall and East Leigh streets, also will be closed during this time.

VCU Police will be working to mitigate traffic congestion. Officers will assist with traffic control Monday through Friday from approximately 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. at North 10th, North 11th and East Marshall streets as drivers adapt to these changes. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic entering and exiting the CHoR Pavilion, located at 1000 E. Broad St., as well as for traffic entering and exiting the construction site, located at 1001 E. Marshall St.
