VCU Board of Visitors to meet in-person and electronically May 13-14

The Virginia Commonwealth University Board of Visitors will hold an in-person and electronic meeting on May 13, beginning at 8:30 a.m., and on May 14, beginning at 9 a.m.

The meeting will be held in open and closed session. The meeting will take place in the James Branch Cabell Library, 901 Park Ave., Room 303. Board members who are participating electronically will access the meeting via Zoom. The public may view a livestream of the open session videoconference at https://mssvideo.vcu.edu/BOV. Should you have any interruption with the video broadcast of the meeting, please contact Taron James at (804) 828-8313.

If you would like to attend the Board of Visitors meeting in-person on Thursday, May 13, and/or Friday, May 14, you must register by providing the following information via email sent to bov@vcu.edu: name, email and phone number, VCU affiliation, (e.g. student, faculty, employee, alumni, parent or member of the public), identify which date(s) you plan to attend, and request for reasonable accommodation if needed. Please note in the subject line that you are registering to attend the May BOV meeting. You may also call Chelsea Gray, board liaison, at (804) 828-9213 to register.

To ensure the safety of our students, faculty and staff, all those participating in person must physically distance, wear clean masks inside of buildings and outside in high-traffic spaces, and wash their hands frequently. We also must limit the size of in-person gatherings. In order to do so, we will require those who plan to attend the meeting in-person to register in advance. Preference will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. The first 10 individuals to register will have the opportunity to attend in person; individuals beyond the first 10 may watch the open sessions via the livestream at https://mssvideo.vcu.edu/BOV. Should you have any interruption with the video broadcast of the meeting, please contact Taron James at (804) 828-8313.

There will be a 15-minute public comment period at the beginning of the meeting on May 14.

If you would like to offer public comment at the May 14 meeting at 9 a.m., you must register by providing the following information via email to bov@vcu.edu: name, email and phone number, VCU affiliation (e.g. student, faculty, employee, alumni, parent or member of the public), and request for reasonable accommodation if needed. Please note in the subject line that you are registering to speak at the May full board meeting public comment. You may also call Chelsea Gray, board liaison, at (804) 828-9213 to register.

Speakers will proceed in the order of registration and should be in-person or online at the start of the meeting at 9 a.m. to facilitate meeting operations. Speakers will be limited to a maximum of three minutes each.

Preference will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. The first five individuals to register will have the opportunity to speak during the public comment period; individuals beyond the first five to register may submit written comments (see below).

Speakers may provide materials in advance should they wish to share with the Board of Visitors.

Individuals unable to attend the public comment period or to provide comment during the allotted hour period may provide written comment via an open comment portal to ensure an adequate opportunity for informed public comment on the proposed agenda items. All comments submitted to the portal must be made by 4:30 p.m., May 12.

Details of the meeting can be found at https://president.vcu.edu/board/meetings/.

In accordance with board procedures, there will be no opportunity for public comment at the May 13 board committee meetings.
