VCU commencement set for Saturday

Virginia Commonwealth University will award degrees during its December commencement exercise on Saturday.

Bestselling novelist David Baldacci, who received a bachelor’s degree in political science from VCU in 1983, is this year’s commencement speaker. The commencement ceremony starts at 10 a.m. in the E.J. Wade Arena at the Stuart C. Siegel Center, 1200 W. Broad St. Doors will open at 9 a.m.

Media credentials are required for access to the floor of the E.J. Wade Arena. Credentials can be obtained during business hours starting Wednesday at the offices of University Public Affairs on the sixth floor of 912 W. Grace St., or may be picked up the day of the event at the Siegel Center’s west entrance between 9 and 10 a.m. Reserved parking for media is available in the Bowe Street Parking Deck, 609 Bowe St.

Students will receive professional, graduate and undergraduate degrees. VCU has more than 2,900 total graduates for August and December. More than 600 of them are expected to participate in the universitywide ceremony.
