Virginia Commonwealth University was recognized for outstanding communications work with 36 prizes at the annual Virginia Public Relations Awards on May 24. The event, hosted by the Public Relations Society of America’s Richmond chapter, recognizes creative and effective communications strategies and tactics.

The chapter presents two types of awards: Commonwealth Awards, which recognize complete public relations campaigns, and Capital Awards, which recognize public relations tactics, individual items or components of campaigns. Within each type, winners are recognized with either an Award of Excellence or an Award of Merit.

VCU’s Division of University Relations won four Commonwealth Awards and nine Capital Awards. Other university offices recognized with awards included the College of Engineering, School of Business, MCV Foundation, Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU, Office of Development and Alumni Relations, Business Services, VCU Police and VCU Libraries.
