VCU to host theatrical performance in celebration of 26th Annual Living the Dream program

WHAT:         In celebration of the 26th annual Living the Dream Program and the life of Martin Luther King Jr., Virginia Commonwealth University will present "Free Jujube Brown", a one-man, multi-character driven hip-hop performance about Jujube Brown--a young writer who is provoked to shoot and accidentally kill a police officer. The audience will experience the voices of those who support his imprisonment, those who love and know him best, and those who feel the need to free Jujube Brown.

VCU's event is a part of the Richmond metropolitan area's annual celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. The Richmond city-wide event is sponsored by Living the Dream, Inc., and involves schools, organizations and businesses in the Richmond area that offer programs which reinforce King's ideals and principles of justice, equality and self-empowerment.

WHO:             Sponsored by VCU's Office of Community Programs, "Free Jujube Brown" will be performed by Psalmayene 24, who also is the show�s writer.

WHEN:           Thursday, Jan. 29, 7 p.m.

WHERE:         W.E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts, 922 Park Ave. Richmond, Va. Parking is available for a nominal fee at the West Broad Street Parking Deck between Shafer and Harrison streets, 1111 W. Broad St.
