Pauline Clay joined the University Public Affairs staff in 2018 as a copy editor.
Prior to joining VCU, she was features editor at the Richmond Times-Dispatch, where she supervised, coordinated and edited the three weekly features sections. She worked at The Times-Dispatch for almost 30 years in a variety of editing positions, including as deputy features editor, assistant metro editor, assistant Virginia editor, health & science editor and assistant suburban editor.
Clay started her journalism career as a photographer and then features editor at The Progress-Index newspaper in Petersburg, Virginia.
Her work has been recognized with Virginia Press Association awards for column writing, photography and editing in addition to Virginia Press Women awards.
She is a two-time alumna of VCU with a bachelor's degree in mass communications and a master's in public administration.
