VCU Board of Visitors to meet in person and electronically March 21 and 22

The Virginia Commonwealth University Board of Visitors will hold in-person and electronic meetings on March 21 beginning at 7:30 a.m., a Board of Visitors budget workshop meeting on March 22 beginning at 8:30 a.m. to discuss the fiscal 2023 budget, and a joint VCU Board of Visitors and VCU Health System board of directors meeting on March 22 beginning at 5 p.m.

Monday, March 21

The meetings will be held in open and closed session. All meetings will take place in James Branch Cabell Library, 901 Park Ave. Board members who are participating electronically will access the meeting via Zoom. The public may view a livestream of the open session videoconference. Should you have any interruption with the video broadcast of the meeting, please contact Taron James at (804) 828-8313.

Immediately following the student panel, the Board of Visitors will attend an invitation-only social dinner at the Scott House, 909 W. Franklin St. No VCU business is planned to be discussed at this meeting.

If you would like to attend the Board of Visitors meeting in person on Monday, March 21, you must register by providing the following information via email sent to bov@vcu.edu: name, email and phone number, VCU affiliation, (e.g. student, faculty, employee, alumni, parent or member of the public), identify which meetings you plan to attend, and request for reasonable accommodation if needed. There will be a 15-minute public comment period at the beginning of the full board meeting on March 21.

If you would like to offer public comment at the March 21 meeting at 12:30 p.m., you must register by providing the following information via email to bov@vcu.edu: name, email and phone number, VCU affiliation (e.g. student, faculty, employee, alumni, parent or member of the public), and request for reasonable accommodation if needed. Please note in the subject line that you are registering to speak at the March 2022 BOV meeting public comment. You may also call Chelsea Gray, board liaison, at (804) 828-9213 to register.

Speakers will proceed in the order of registration and should be in person or online at the start of the meeting at 12:30 p.m. Speakers will be limited to a maximum of three minutes each.

Preference will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. The first five individuals to register will have the opportunity to speak during the public comment period; individuals beyond the first five to register may submit written comments (see below).

Speakers may provide materials in advance should they wish to share with the Board of Visitors.

Individuals unable to attend the public comment period or to provide comment during the allotted hour period may provide written comment via an open comment portal to ensure an adequate opportunity for informed public comment on the proposed agenda items. All comments submitted to the portal must be made by 4:30 p.m., March 14.

Please note in the subject line that you are registering to attend the 2022 BOV budget workshop. You may also call Chelsea Gray, board liaison, at (804) 828-9213 to register.

There will be an hour public comment period at the beginning of the workshop on March 22. The board will receive comments only on matters pertaining to VCU’s budget and proposed agenda items.

Joint VCU Board of Visitors and VCU Health System Authority board of directors meeting
The VCU Board of Visitors and VCU Health System Authority board of directors will hold an in-person meeting on March 22 beginning at 5 p.m.

The meeting will be held in open session at the VCU Engineering Research Building, 70 S. Madison St. Tours of the building will be offered to board members beginning at 4 p.m. prior to the meeting.

If you would like to attend the Board of Visitors and board of directors joint meeting in person on Tuesday, March 22, you must register by providing the following information via email sent to bov@vcu.edu: name, email and phone number, VCU affiliation, (e.g. student, faculty, employee, alumni, parent or member of the public), and request for reasonable accommodation if needed.
