The Virginia Commonwealth University Board of Visitors received the overall highest score among Virginia’s public institutions of higher education in an assessment of board transparency, accessibility and receptivity to students and the public.

The recognition comes from the Partners for College Affordability and Public Trust, which conducted an assessment through observation and review of publicly available information related to board policies and practices. VCU’s board received a perfect score of 100% (an A) in both transparency and receptiveness. VCU’s overall score of 92.6% was the highest among all institutions. The average total score among all schools was 75.8% – up 5.8% from the most recent previous assessment in 2020.

“The VCU Board of Visitors is committed to being transparent, accessible and receptive to all members of our community,” said Ben Dendy, rector of the VCU Board of Visitors. “We're pleased that the Partners for College Affordability and Public Trust organization has recognized these efforts by rating VCU's board highest in the state in its assessment of college governing boards.”
