Industry leaders return to address trends affecting the real estate and business economies at Virginia Commonwealth University’s 30th annual Real Estate Trends Conference next month. This year’s speakers are the chief strategy officer of a vertically integrated real estate firm and a geopolitical strategist.
Organized by the Kornblau Real Estate Program in the VCU School of Business, the conference will be held Thursday, Oct. 13, at the Greater Richmond Convention Center. Doors open, with registration and a continental breakfast, at 7:30 a.m. The program starts at 9 a.m.
The conference — an annual sellout — is expected to attract more than 1,500 industry leaders from both the academic and professional ranks and from all sectors of real estate.
Suzanne Mulvee serves as chief strategy officer at GID, a vertically integrated investor, operator, developer and fiduciary with more than $26 billion in assets under management, including more than 46,000 apartment units and 25 million-square-feet of industrial space across the United States.
Mulvee leads the firm’s business intelligence team, which is tasked with mobilizing data into actionable insights for business leaders.
Geopolitical strategist Peter Zeihan helps people understand how the world works by combining an expert understanding of demography, economics, energy, politics, technology and security to help clients best prepare for an uncertain future.
The critically acclaimed author’s first two books — “The Accidental Superpower” and “The Absent Superpower” — have been recommended by Mitt Romney, Fareed Zakaria and Ian Bremmer. His latest book, “The End of the World is Just the Beginning: Mapping the Collapse of Globalization,” came out in June.
The annual VCU Real Estate Trends Conference is one of the leading forums in the region for the exchange of ideas and information about real estate. This conference attracts real estate professionals from various industry sectors such as law, finance, construction, development, brokerage and appraisal, and it provides those professionals the opportunity to look into the future of real estate, to share their expertise and to make and strengthen professional relationships and friendships.
