The Virginia Commonwealth University Project Gabriel: President’s Special Commission on Slavery and Justice will hold its first in-person community forum on March 21 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Roundtable discussions will take place around themes of memorialization, scholarships, and community and individual economic programs.
Project Gabriel was established in spring 2023 in response to House Bill 1980 and the findings of the Dec. 17, 2022, report on Slavery and the Medical College of Virginia.
The forum is open to all members of the public and will be held in the cafeteria of Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School at 1000 Mosby St. in Richmond. Guests should use the building's rear entrance to access the cafeteria directly.
Registration is encouraged at projectgabriel.vcu.edu/events. Additional information on Project Gabriel can be found at projectgabriel.vcu.edu/about.
