Virginia Commonwealth University’s Class of 2028 will move into the university’s residence halls on campus on Aug. 16-17, marking the start of a new academic year.

VCU’s fall enrollment this year is currently tracking 1% higher than fall 2023, and the incoming freshman class is estimated to total more than 4,300 students – on track to be one of the top four largest freshman classes in VCU’s history. More than one-third of the incoming class is expected to be Pell eligible, and more than one-third is expected to be first-generation college students. Of VCU's overall new incoming students, approximately 84% are from Virginia, including 88% of all freshmen.

During move-in days, expect heavy traffic and limited parking in the vicinity of the university’s residence halls. In addition, Laurel Street will be closed between Broad and Main.
