Because the National Weather Service is calling for heavy rain and thunderstorms, plans have changed for the annual New Student Convocation and Spirit Walk scheduled for Aug. 19. Convocation will no longer be held in Monroe Park. Instead, at 4 p.m. the event will be livestreamed on this VCU News page. The link will also be available on the university’s homepage at vcu.edu. The scheduled speakers and performers will be filmed indoors, but without a live audience, due to capacity limitations of available indoor venues on campus.

The Spirit Walk, which was scheduled to take place at the close of convocation, has been canceled. The Block Party is still scheduled to take place at 5:30 p.m. at the Commons Plaza. Event organizers continue to monitor the weather and will notify the VCU community of any additional changes in plans.
