VCU Commencement on May 17

Media credentials available beginning Wednesday

Virginia Commonwealth University’s 2003 Spring Commencement will begin at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 17 at the Richmond Coliseum, 601 E. Leigh St., Richmond, Va.

Media representatives should contact VCU University News Services for credentials at 828-1231, or e-mail lfladd@vcu.edu.  Credentials may be picked up Wednesday through Friday, May 14 – 16, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. at VCU News Services offices at 826 W. Franklin St., Richmond.  Or they can be picked up Saturday, May 17, between 9 a.m. and 9:45 a.m., at the lower Leigh Street entrance to the Coliseum.

Media representatives must show their VCU Commencement media pass to gain access to the floor of the Coliseum and the Coliseum Press Box.

The commencement speaker is Judge Roger L. Gregory, the first African-American to be appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. 

Gilbert M. and Fannie S. Rosenthal of Richmond will be presented the Edward A. Wayne Medal in recognition of their extraordinary service to VCU.  Additionally, VCU’s highest honor, the Presidential Medallion, will be presented to Dr. Hermes A. Kontos and Dr. Leo J. Dunn for their significant contributions to the university.
