The Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center’s Acute Neuroscience Unit has won 2nd place in the ADVANCE for Nurses annual Best Nursing Team Contest for the Maryland, Washington D.C., and Virginia area.

In celebration of National Nurses Week, May 6-12, ADVANCE presented the award in the spirit of initiative, adaptability, expertise and outreach – qualities upon which the entries were judged.

"We are honored to be recognized by ADVANCE for Nurses and our peers," said Lynn Goodloe, nurse manager of the VCU Medical Center's Acute Neuroscience Unit. "We truly pride ourselves in making a difference for our patients and their families every day."

The 53 nurses on VCU Medical Center’s Acute Neuroscience team are featured in the May 3 issue. In addition, winners from all regions served by ADVANCE for Nurses magazines are featured online at www.advanceweb.com/nurses.

"Nurses work hard for their patients, their facility and their co-workers. By celebrating the nursing teams who read our magazines, we aim to do our part in honoring the everyday heroes who keep our nation healthy and safe," said Linda Jones, editorial director of ADVANCE for Nurses. "We stand behind our mission to recognize their diligence and commitment to providing the best possible care."

ADVANCE for Nurses, a biweekly magazine and website, presents articles and features for registered nurses of all specialties. The magazine also features clinical information, continuing education, local nursing coverage, a large listing of available job opportunities and the latest product news.
