More than 30 physicians from theVCU Medical Center were recognized as Top Docs for Women, as chosen by their peers in the April issue of Richmond magazine.
The physicians were nominated in more than 40 categories from cosmetic surgery to cervical cancer to dermatology. Twenty five VCU Medical Center physicians received the top vote-getter positions.
“The recognition of our physicians as leaders in women’s health is emblematic of their national and international stature as experts and advocates for women’s health care,” said Sheldon Retchin, M.D., VCU Health System CEO and vice president for VCU Health Sciences. “These physicians are at the forefront of women’s health research and education as well as superior patient care.”
Wendy S. Klein, M.D., associate professor emeritus of medicine, obstetrics and gynecology at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, also was recognized as a special honoree for her continued work as a physician advocate.
This is the second time Richmond magazine has compiled a top doctors list specifically for women’s health. The last survey was done in 2001.
The magazine mailed more than 4,200 surveys to licensed doctors in the Richmond area in January and received 287 responses. The Virginia Department of Health Professions supplied the list of doctors who received the survey.
