VCU Police add two bicycle security patrols to Monroe Park campus

The semiannual perception of safety survey conducted by VCU Police has shown that the community feels safest when they see officers on bicycles.

In order to provide a continual bicycle-based security presence on campus, even when officers are on calls for service, VCU Police has expanded its existing relationship with G4S, a nationally renowned security firm, to include two additional bike patrols on the Monroe Park campus from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., seven days per week. These specially trained security professionals will be strategically deployed for increased visibility and are in direct contact with VCU Police and the Emergency Communications Center at all times.

The security professionals will begin work immediately under the supervision of VCU Police but will not carry weapons or have police powers. G4S security patrols will be easily recognizable by their yellow jackets emblazoned with “G4S” on the back.
