Members of Virginia Commonwealth University’s African American Studies program recently returned from a trip to Haiti, in which the group delivered more than 3,000 books to a Haitian community’s library.

The book drive was sponsored by VCU’s Just Say Hello Campaign and African American Studies program, and included books donated by VCU faculty, staff and students. The books included a variety of reading levels, such as children’s books, novels and textbooks. In addition, the names of all donors will be placed on a wall in the library where the donated books are housed.

Members of the VCU group that traveled to Haiti also said the trip was very rewarding and the people of Haiti were pleased to receive the books.
