The impact of arts and culture on the global business community will be the topic of Virginia Commonwealth University’s 25th annual International Business Forum.

“The Influence of Art and Culture on the Human Endeavor: Insights for Global Business” will take place Oct. 21 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Institute for Contemporary Art, 601 W. Broad St., followed by a reception.

A unique panel comprising Ed Grier, dean of the VCU School of Business; Shawn Brixey, professor in the VCU School of the Arts and the College of Engineering; and John E. Nestler, M.D., professor of internal medicine and physician/scientist-in-residence at the School of the Arts, will elaborate on this topic as it applies to global success.

“To be successful in international business, relationships are critical,” said Van R. Wood, Ph.D., the Philip Morris Chair of International Business and director of the VCU Center for International Business Advancement, who will moderate the event. “In order to build these relationships, one must understand others’ cultures and values. This year’s forum will further explore how art and culture can influence relationship development.”
