Active RVA Summit presented by VCU Health set for March 7

The Active RVA Summit presented by VCU Health will bring industry experts to Richmond to present on a variety of public health topics, including active workplaces and schools, active transportation, health equity, and community design and infrastructure.
Keynote speakers include Mayor Chip Johnson of Hernando, Mississippi, and Maya Rockeymoore, Ph.D., CEO of Global Policy Solutions in Washington, D.C. Following the summit, the Active RVA Awards presented by Cigna will honor all Active RVA Certified companies and schools. Summit registration is $100 for the all-day program and reservations can be made online at http://www.activerva.org/community/awards/ by March 3. Admission to the Active RVA Awards ceremony is free but attendees need to register ahead of time.
The summit and awards will take place at the VCU Larrick Student Center (900 Turpin St.) beginning at 8:30 a.m., and a full schedule can be found here. Media seating is available and must be reserved by Friday, March 4. 10:45 – 12:00pm – Joint Session: Walk the Walk – a Ted Talks style presentation
- Danny Avula, M.D. – acting director, Richmond City Health District (Richmond, Virginia).
- Andy Boenau – planning and design group leader, Timmons Group (Richmond, Virginia).
- Jon Lugbill – executive director, Sports Backers (Richmond, Virginia).
- Tom Richards – director of corporate engagement, American Council on Exercise (Annapolis, Massachusetts).

- Keynote – Mayor Chip Johnson (Hernando, Mississippi) – Johnson will share information about his comprehensive programs to improve the health outcomes and economic development trajectory of Hernando.
