Amazon Executive to Deliver VCU Commencement Address

Teresa H. Carlson, vice president, Worldwide Public Sector, Amazon Web Services, and a member of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Board of Visitors, will deliver the featured address this month at VCU’s 2013 commencement ceremony.
Carlson is responsible for strategy, sales and business development for Amazon’s web services and cloud computing business. Before joining Amazon, she was vice president of federal government business at Microsoft Corp., where she defined the strategy and oversaw the execution of sales, contracting, pre-sales technical support, product marketing, customer satisfaction and performance of the U.S. federal government business worldwide.
She has earned a number of awards for her leadership, including being named to Washingtonian magazine's "2011 Tech Titans," a list of the top 100 leaders in the D.C. technology scene. She also was named to FAST Company’s 2010 list of the 12 top executives in its “Most Influential Women in Technology” listing.
