David Leong, chair, Department of Theatre, VCU School of the Arts
Leong was elected as a member of the Commission on Accreditation of the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST). Leong will serve a three-year term in the position.
NAST has 171 institutional members, including schools, conservatories, colleges and universities. Members primarily are at the collegiate level. The organization sets national standards for undergraduate and graduate degrees and other credentials. Membership in the organization is gained through the peer review process of accreditation, and NAST is the national accrediting agency for theatre and theatre-related disciplines.
Toni-Leslie James, assistant professor, Department of Theatre, VCU School of the Arts
James has been nominated for the 2012 Lucille Lortel Awards, honoring outstanding achievement in off-Broadway productions. James was nominated in the Outstanding Costume Design category for her work on “Milk Like Sugar.” The Lortel Awards ceremony will occur May 6 at the New York University Skirball Center. James previously received a Lortel nomination in 2009 for the costume design in “Wig Out.”
