Tony Amato, Nurse Anesthesia

Rocky Cagle, Nurse Anesthesia

Amato and Cagle are recipients of Sheridan Healthcare’s National Allied Health Scholarship for Student Registered Nurse Anesthetists (SRNAs). The $5,000 scholarships recognize SRNAs enrolled in nationally accredited anesthesiology programs for exemplary clinical and leadership skills. They were presented at the 2013 American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) annual meeting in Las Vegas in August.

Amato and Cagle are both on course to receive a master’s degree in nurse anesthesia in December and to receive a doctoral degree in nurse anesthesia practice in May.

“Amato has established himself among his peer group as an exemplary and respected graduate nurse anesthesia student in didactics, as well as an impressively evolving anesthesia clinician,” said a press release announcing the scholarships. “He has already made substantial contributions to the advancement of nurse anesthesia practice and scholarship, with presentations at both regional and national seminars.”

“Cagle serves as Class of 2013 President and … has acted as resource, liaison, role model and, at times, counselor to his peer group,” according to the release. “He has earned the respect and admiration not only of his contemporaries, but also of his mentors.”
