Betty Rollin to speak at fifth annual Women & Wellness Luncheon

Proceeds to Benefit Breast Cancer Research at VCU’s Massey Cancer Center

Betty Rollin, network news correspondent, breast cancer survivor and well-known author, will be the featured speaker at the annual Women & Wellness Luncheon for Virginia Commonwealth University’s Massey Cancer Center.

Presented by the Jenkins Foundation, the luncheon will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 8 at The Jefferson Hotel, located at Franklin and Adams streets. Proceeds from the luncheon will benefit breast cancer research at VCU’s Massey Cancer Center.

Rollin is a contributing correspondent for NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw and has been a correspondent for NBC’s Today. She has authored six books, including First You Cry, published in 1976. Later made into a TV movie, the moving autobiography related the story of her breast cancer diagnosis and mastectomy. Her best-seller Last Wish, published first in 1985 and again in 1998, dealt with the suicide of her terminally ill mother. It has been published in 18 foreign countries and also was made into a TV movie.

The Massey Cancer Center is Virginia’s first National Cancer Institute-designated center. With over 170 nationally recognized scientists, physicians and nurses, the Massey Cancer Center is a leader in cancer research and treatment.
