Well-balanced nutrition is important for the whole family. Sonya Islam, registered dietitian with the Healthy Lifestyles Center at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU, will be live on Facebook on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 6 p.m. to discuss the benefits of preparing and eating meals at home.
“When the school year starts, putting together healthy family meals can feel like just another part of the daily grind,” Islam said. “Even so, there’s a lot to be gained by making meals at home a priority.”
Well-balanced nutrition gives parents the energy they need to handle their daily commitments and helps kids stay focused for school and extracurricular activities, Islam said. While it can be easy to rely on fast food when pressed for time, this often high-calorie option can quickly lead to extra pounds. Islam will discuss creative, healthy and budget-friendly tips and meal ideas for busy families as part of the Facebook event.
Questions can be submitted in advance or throughout the broadcast to /chrichmond on Facebook.
