Virginia Commonwealth University's College of Humanities and Sciences recently honored Dr. Roderick McDavis, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, during an afternoon ice-cream social. At the gathering, guests were treated to ice cream sundaes from Richmond's own Sundaze ice cream shop, and McDavis was recognized for his support of the College and VCU.

McDavis has served as VCU's top academic officer since July 1999, coordinating academic policies and being responsible for all academic proceedings and programs for the entire university. He announced his resignation from VCU in May, in order to become the 20th president of Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.
