Austin Bauman and Tom Reardon are two recent Vanderbilt University graduates who like many recent grads have chosen to spend a bulk of their summer traveling before settling into new jobs.

This pair's plans feature a twist on the typical road trip, however. They're traveling 5,000 miles through 20 cities across the United States — on bicycles — raising money for childhood cancer research.

The two recently visited and passed out gift bags to pediatric patients at the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center's ASK Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic and the pediatric inpatient unit as part of a large fundraising program called Rally Across America, a charity bike tour benefiting the Rally Foundation.

Supporting more than 5,000 physicians, nurses and scientists who conduct clinical trials and conduct collaborative research in North America, The Rally Foundation works to help pediatric oncology specialists to identify cancer causes and to pioneer new treatments and cures.
