edUi Conference to Address Future of Technology, Government and Education

Virginia Commonwealth University is co-sponsoring the 2012 edUi conference for Web professionals Sept. 24-26 at the Omni hotel in Richmond.

The annual conference brings Web professionals working with colleges, universities, libraries, and museums together with frontrunners in the fields of Web design, user experience and user interface.

Former U.S. Chief Technology Officer Aneesh Chopra will deliver the plenary talk on the future of technology, government and education. On his first day in office, President Barack Obama directed Chopra, the country's first chief technology officer, to develop a more open and transparent government. Chopra was tasked with the massive challenge of ushering in a new era of collaboration with the private sector, one which focused on creating the jobs and industries of the future. In his talk, Chopra will detail how open government and open access to information can improve the higher education system and democracy while fueling innovation for the future.
