Kristen M. Swenson, Ph.D., School of World Studies
Swenson, associate professor of religious studies in the School of World Studies, has written a new book that introduces readers to the Bible.

“Bible Babel:  Making Sense Of The Most Talked About Book Of All Time” explains what the Bible is, where it comes from and what’s in it and shows how people use the Bible to argue today’s most controversial issues. The book explores biblical symbols that remain popular today and places some of the most famous biblical sayings, people, places and things into context.

Swenson’s research examines how biblical interpretation shapes contemporary thinking about matters such as health, social relationships and the environment. She is also an expert on the connection between food and religious celebrations.

“Bible Babel:  Making Sense Of The Most Talked About Book Of All Time” was published in February by HarperCollins.
