The Virginia Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance has awarded statewide awards to Misti R. Wajciechowski, assistant professor in the School of Education, and Eric West, Ph.D., assistant director of safety education and recreational programs in Recreational Sports.

Wajciechowski was named the College/University Physical Education Teacher of the Year, while West was named College/University Dance Educator of the Year.

Wajciechowski and West were among 10 educators from across the state who were selected for demonstrated excellence in their fields. They will be recognized for their achievements during the SHAPE Southern District Conference on Feb. 13 at the Williamsburg Lodge in Williamsburg.
