The Old Dominion Professional Firefighters Burn Foundation recently hosted its first golf tournament to benefit the VCU Medical Center burn unit this summer at Birkdale Golf Club, in Chesterfield, Virginia.

The Burn Foundation raised nearly $12,000 for VCU's Evans-Haynes Burn Center. Burn unit nurses and Chesterfield County firefighters facilitated the tournament while firefighters from the city of Richmond, Henrico County and the city of Petersburg, plus three foursomes from the VCU Medical Center, played 18 holes.

The Evans-Haynes Burn center was the first civilian burn unit in the country and remains the only such facility in the Commonwealth.

The Old Dominion Professional Firefighters Burn Foundation is composed of the health care team from the burn center and metro Richmond area firefighters. Through research, prevention and education, the Burn Foundation has dedicated the advancement of burn care and treatment at VCU Medical Center. Volunteers, fundraisers, sponsorships and donations from the community enhance this collaborative effort.
