Fort Hood Shootings: VCU Professor can Discuss Veterans Mental Health Issues
Share this story
Virginia Commonwealth University has an expert available to discuss mental health and psychological issues experienced by veterans.
Leticia Flores, Ph.D., director, Center for Psychological Services and Development, and assistant professor of counseling psychology, can discuss what she sees as the stigma attached to mental health issues in the military and veterans’ reluctance to seek help.
Flores oversees a program that provides assessments, counseling and referrals to veterans. In April, the center received a grant from the Virginia Department of Veterans Services “Wounded Warrior Program” to support a variety of programs that help veterans affected by stress-related injuries, ranging from case management and psychological services to day programs and employment services.
