The Virginia Commonwealth University Department of Music opens the 2014-15 season of the Mary Anne Rennolds Chamber Concerts with Grammy-winning Pacifica Quartet in concert.
The performance takes place Saturday, Sept. 13, at 8 p.m. at the W.E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts, 922 Park Ave. Tickets are $34 and can be purchased at vcumusic.showclix.com.
Recognized for their virtuosity, exuberant performance style and often daring repertory choices, the Pacifica Quartet has gained international stature during the past two decades as one of the finest chamber ensembles performing today. Recent accolades for the ensemble include winning the 2009 Grammy Award for Best Chamber Music Performance and serving as the quartet-in-residence at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The Department of Music at the VCU School of the Arts has brought the top chamber music performers in the world to Richmond audiences since 1983. The Mary Anne Rennolds Chamber Concerts series, the premier chamber music series in the area, honors one of Richmond’s greatest music patrons.
The remaining concerts in the 2014-15 season are as follows. All concerts take place at 8 p.m. in the Sonia Vlahcevic Concert Hall. Tickets are $34.
