Health, wellness and benefits providers will gather at the Student Commons on April 19 to inform Virginia Commonwealth University employees about all the health care services, retirement options and human resource programs available to them.
VCU Human Resources is hosting “Navigate Your Way Through Benefits and Wellness,” its biennial Benefits and Wellness Fair, to remind employees of all the university has to offer.
This is a great opportunity to learn more about programs ranging from being or becoming a healthy person to planning for retirement, said Debbie Fitzgerald of VCU Human Resources.
“The fair is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will give faculty and staff the opportunity to talk directly with benefits providers, human resource and CommonHealth staff, and other vendors to help with their work/life balance,” Fitzgerald said. “They'll also have an opportunity to get important health care screenings and attend mini education/wellness classes.”
The mini-education and exercise sessions include demonstrations in workouts such as yoga, and investment education programs. Health screenings will be held for blood pressure, posture and skin damage.
Nearly 40 vendors are participating in his year’s fair. Health and wellness providers include Anthem, CommonHealth and ValueOptions Inc. Service providers include the Virginia Retirement System and Fidelity. All VCU service departments, such as Dining Services and Technology Services, also are participating.
“There will be door prizes and giveaways too,” Fitzgerald said. “We're hoping all employees will come out and enjoy the day.”
