Students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members will get another opportunity to learn more about “ONE VCU,” the university’s master plan. The plan is being developed to identify and detail the physical framework necessary to support the university’s strategic priorities for years to come.

Engagement sessions have been scheduled at the end of the month to learn more about the master plan process, confirm that the plan is on track and ask questions.

“It is important that we continue to hear from you throughout the planning process and I’m excited to announce three more opportunities for the community to get involved and help us shape the plan,” said Meredith Weiss, Ph.D., vice president for administration. “Your valuable insight will help us to develop a cohesive blueprint for guiding VCU for years to come.”

The master planning process started last fall when VCU and partner Ayers Saint Gross, an internationally recognized architectural, planning and design firm, hosted three informal input sessions. More than 400 students, faculty, staff and community members answered questions about strengths and weaknesses of the existing campuses.

The early feedback led to the establishment of a front door focus group to consider the look and feel of key entryways into both campuses. The group will also look at aesthetics and scale at these important spaces in efforts to improve the arrival experience for visitors and enhance VCU’s overall sense of place and identity.

Additional meetings to explain the process and seek feedback were held with a number of internal and external groups. Participants shared input which led to the development of emerging themes, which will help to shape the future of the physical campus.

ONE VCU is guided by the university’s strategic plan, Quest 2025: Together We Transform and by VCU Health’s strategic plan, Vision by Design.
