Mary S. Shall, Ph.D., has been elected president of the Medical College of Virginia Alumni Association of Virginia Commonwealth University.
Shall is an associate professor in the School of Allied Health Profession’s Department of Physical Therapy with an affiliate appointment in the VCU School of Medicine’s Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology.
Her two-year tenure as president of the MCV Alumni Association's Board of Trustees began on July 1.
“As a proud graduate of the anatomy and neurobiology department, I’m excited about representing the basic health sciences division during my MCVAA presidency and about increasing alumni involvement,” said Shall. “As a faculty member within one of the School of Allied Health Professions’ departments, I feel as though I am uniquely representing two schools in this leadership position.”
Shall served as president of the VCU Faculty Senate from 1993 until 1994 and is active with professional organizations focusing on physical therapy and neuroscience.
She earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in anatomy and neurobiology from VCU in 1991. She also received a Master of Science degree in physical therapy from Duke University in 1978 and a Bachelor of Science degree in comparative literature from Creighton University in 1976.
The MCV Alumni Association’s Board of Trustees consists of 36 members equally representing each of the MCV Campus’ academic units. Other alumni recently elected as MCVAA officers include James Revere, D.D.S., president elect; George W. Burke III, M.D., past president; Elizabeth Reynolds, D.D.S., secretary; and Kenneth Kolb, Pharm.D., treasurer.
