National Institutes of Health executive to speak about translational research at VCU

Christopher P. Austin, M.D., director of the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) at the National Institutes of Health, will give a public presentation at Virginia Commonwealth University about the role of the Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) program in advancing translational research.

The public presentation will take place on Friday, Jan. 31, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Hermes A. Kontos Medical Sciences Building Auditorium, 1217 E. Marshall St. It is free and open to the public. For more information, call 804-828-7701.

The CTSA program is housed in the NCATS Division of Clinical Innovation. In 2010, VCU received a $20 million CTSA grant and joined the national consortium of 62 research institutions working toward accelerating discoveries toward better health. The VCU Center for Clinical and Translational Research is the home for the VCU CTSA grant.
